Three Need To Know Pokemon Go Tips
Here a few free tips and tricks that Pokemon Go players should know about when playing the game.
Eevee Evolution
Niantic have officially confirmed this little cheat/Easter Egg to be true and fans of the original Pokemon TV series will be happy to see this in the game. It’s based on an episode where Ash and his friends meet four brothers who all had Eevees; this even uses the names of those brothers.
There is no obvious way to evolve Eevee into a specific evolution but naming it correctly before evolving it will give the player the evolution they wanted; some of them are much more powerful than the others which makes this even more useful.
Sparky – Evolves into Jolteon
Rainer – Evolves into Vaporeon
Pyro – Evolves into Flareon
While this seems to only work if the player doesn’t have that evolution in their Pokedex, it’s a very useful trick.
Pikachu as a starter
While this isn’t very useful, it’s a nice Easter Egg in the game that allows all players to start their Pokemon journey just like Ash did in the TV show.
Pokemon in the game have a specific CP level and starter Pokemon have some of the lowest in the game; as players progress through the game they become less useful.
When starting the game, it’s possible to ‘run’ from the main three starter Pokemon. Doing this for long enough will cause a Pikachu to spawn who can be easily captured to be the starter Pokemon.
This may not be that useful but fans of the original series will appreciate this little secret.
Swipe the Pokeball for accessing menus quickly
Now this is a very useful trick for saving a little bit of time. To quickly open a menu all the player needs to do is swipe the Pokeball icon at the bottom of the screen in the direction of the menu they want to open.
It will automatically go straight to that menu. This is great for quickly checking item counts in the backpack or for quickly healing Pokemon before jumping back into another Gym battle.
